Summer Hair Mistakes to Avoid
Mistake 1: Forgetting UV protection
Hear us out: it's not just the skin that needs SPF, hair and scalp also benefit from a (preferably waterproof) UV protection spray. Sprayed into damp hair before styling and in between, it prevents sun damage, drying out and color fading.
Mistake 2: Heat styling
This summer hair care tip is a no-brainer: if your hair is already stressed by the sun and high temperatures, you shouldn't style it with a straightener or curling iron. The solution: Spray on a beach waves spray, let your hair air dry and be rewarded with casual waves.
Mistake 3: Not rinsing your hair after the pool
On a hot day, there's often nothing better than a cool dip. The only problem is that it's not always good for your hair (we're especially talking about you, Blondies!). Greenish discoloration and dry, brittle hair can be the result of your mane being exposed to too much chlorine. The solution: Rinse your hair with clear water immediately after bathing and then use a conditioner.
Mistake 4: Risking hair breakage
An absolute must in your summer luggage is a moisturizing, nourishing mask that quenches the thirst of dry beach hair in the evening and helps to smooth and soften hair swollen from the sea or pool water.
Mistake 5: Don't wear a hat
We've said it many times before, but we'll emphasize it again, the importance of a cap or hat (especially at the beach). Apart from the fact that you don't want to risk sunstroke, your hair and scalp suffer enormously from the intense UV rays. Tip! A sun hat with a wide brim also protects your ears and neck. A win-win situation, in our opinion.
Mistake 6: Brushing wet hair roughly
Every hairstylist's nightmare: aggressively brushing damp hair from the roots down. Wet hair is particularly sensitive because the cuticle layer is still slightly open and therefore breaks much more easily. You should therefore only detangle it carefully with a wide-toothed comb or Tangle Teezer. It is important that you start with the tips and then work your way up. A conditioner helps with particularly thick, unruly hair.
Mistake 7: Not using color protection care
It's no secret that bleaching and coloring stresses the hair structure. When chlorine and salt water come into play, the hair has to withstand a lot. That's why it's better to refresh your blonde or color a few weeks before or after your vacation and use special color care products for extra protection and a boost of care.
